Inviting kids to your wedding is normally a controversial topic and it varys between couples if they invite them or not. Here are some tips to Entertain kids on a budget.
Well we we had our kids there (aged 3 and 18 months at the time) so I invited friends kids too so that they could all play together plus I think kids on the dance floor in the evening is great fun and gets people up dancing and having fun.
There are a lot of options now with kids fun services that set up at the venue to keep the kids entertained or stay with them in a separate room or you could pay for a babysitter for the day. All of the above are not budget breaking but also are not the cheapest option.
We has space in the venue for an extra table so I asked the venue to set up a table for 10 but not to set it up for dinner. I wanted to make a fun area in the corner of the room where the kids could come and go as they pleased. So they all had a place at the table with their parents for dinner and to sit with but they also had a place at the fun table as they called it. Oh by the way cheapest entertainment just get an empty tablecloth covered table they were mostly playing under there!
Here is what the final table looked like on the day.
my kids table was set up with a personalised box for each of the kids and then some activity items scattered around. All of this I got from Dealz so in total I think I spent around €20. Here are some ideas on what you could pick up for the table.
– Sticker sheets
– Colouring Books (multipack of small ones)
– Activity Packs (we had a Christmas wedding so there were lots of craft packs they could make up)
– Treat Box
I also made personalised treat boxes for each of the kids. I got the boxes from eBay and used some for the kids and some as welcome boxes to leave in the rooms for when the guests arrived. I put in some chocolate buttons (white ones) you don’t want milk chocolate button hands on your dress! I had gone and asked the parents if they could have them first. I had a colouring pack and a blind bag or surprise egg in there too.
Hope this might help a few of you out but for under €50 I had entertainment for 9 kids between ages 12 months to 6 for the day.
